Midwives & Mothers in Action (MAMA) - www.mamacampaign.org

The MAMA campaign is a collaborative effort by the National Association of Certified Professional Midwives (NACPM), Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA), Citizens for Midwifery (CfM), International Center for Traditional Childbearing (ICTC), North American Registry of Midwives (NARM), and the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC).  This partnership is now at work to gain federal recognition of Certified Professional Midwives so that women and families will have increased access to quality, affordable maternity care in the settings of their choice.


National Association of Certified Professional Midwives- www.nacpm.org

NACPM provides the opportunity to maximize the potential of the CPM credential and the midwives who hold it by radically expanding the availability of midwives to women and their families.The NACPM will promote and support CPMs and their work. It will strive to ensure that midwifery as practiced by CPMs will take its rightful place in the delivery of maternity care to women and families in the United States.


North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) – www.narm.org

North American Registry of Midwives oversees a competency-based certification process for midwives, granting the title of Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) to those passing rigorous written examinations and testing of clinical experience and skills.


Midwives Alliance of North America (MANA) – www.mana.org

A professional organization for midwives from all educational backgrounds whose goal is to unify and strengthen the profession of midwifery, thereby improving the quality of health care for women, babies, and communities

  


Midwives of Maine (MOM) - www.midwivesofmaine.org- A statewide self regulating organization of CPMs and CNMs dedicated to the continuation of midwifery and the freedom of choice in childbirth.  Experience and statistics have proven the safety of planned home birth and the effectiveness of midwives in promoting the health and well-being of mothers, babies and families.

The professional organization of New Hampshire Certified Midwives.  This page on their website is specifically focused on why women in NH choose out-of-hospital birth, yet other pages include links to the New Hampshire Midwifery Statute.


Vermont Midwives Alliance (VMA) –www.vermontmidwivesalliance.org

Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC) – www.meacshchools.org

The Midwifery Education Accreditation creates standards and criteria for the education of midwives incorporating the nationally recognized core competencies and guiding principles set by the Midwives Alliance of North America and the requirements for national certification of the North American Registry of Midwives.  MEAC is a non-profit organization approved by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency.


Citizens for Midwifery (CfM) – www.cfmidwifery.org

Citizens for Midwifery is a consumers group whose goal is to see that the Midwives Model of Care is available to all childbearing women and universally recognized as the best kind of care for pregnancy and birth.  They make available the most up-to-date material supporting midwifery. 


Association for Safe Alternatives in Childbirth (ASAC) – www.asac.ab.ca

The Association for Safe Alternatives in Childbirth believes that childbirth is a normal, healthy part of life, of special significance to the pregnant woman and her family and adheres to the tenant that parents have the right and the responsibility to make informed choices about childbirth from full range of available options - in the hospital, at home, in a birthing center and with professional care givers of their choice.


International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) – www.ican-online.org

A nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).


National Birth Policy Coalition -www.thebigpushformidwives.org

Increasing access to the Midwives Model of Care in all settings is essential to the health and well-being of childbearing women and their babies. The National Birth Policy Coalition supports legislative initiatives that promote the autonomous practice of Certified Professional Midwives and Certified Nurse-Midwives, and that ensure the availability of safe, evidence-based care during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.

Childbirth Connections is a national, not-for-profit organization founded in 1918 as Maternity Center Association.  Their mission is to improve the quality of maternity care through research, education, adocacy and policy.  Childbirth Connections supports safe, effective, and satisfying evidence-based maternity care and is a voice for the needs and interests of childbearing families.
