Next month Sarah Crow has offered to host the July potluck: simple herbal medicine for families, tuesday 7/14/09 at 5:30 in Portland at her garden

hello, my name is sarah crow. i'm writing to introduce myself and invite you to the july potluck which i'll be hosting in my garden in portland.  i am an herbalist, gardener and community activist. i am mother to ceiba, 4 1/2, and kana luc, 8 mo., both born at home with the assistance of my wonderful partner jonah and local midwives.  our family was lucky to share kana's prenatal, birth, and postpartum time with brenda, maureen, and lindsay.
plant medicine has been part of my life for ten years. i continue to learn and teach, grow herbs in the urban garden in the lot next to the building where i live, gather medicinal plants from wild spots in maine, and make medicine.  since becoming pregnant with ceiba, i've really enjoyed learning about and focusing on herbs for women's reproductive health and herbs for children and bringing medicine plants into my kids' lives as much as possible.
i'm excited to share some of what i've learned with other parents and children.  at the potluck, discussion will be open to cover what the group's interests are. topics can include: herbs for women's health, pregnancy, and postpartum, herbs for kids, identifying common wild medicine plants and garden "weeds", forum/discussion for everyone to share our knowledge with each other, herbal first aid for families, and making an herbal tincture.
potluck dinner: cookout style, bring things for grilling on the fire
hope to see you there! -sarah 761-0114

directions to the kellogg st. community garden, portland:
take congress st. east up munjoy hill. just before you reach the top of the hill, take a right onto kellogg st. if you see the fire station, you've gone too far. follow kellogg street through one stop sign. garden is on the left, almost at the bottom of the street. it is set back a little from the road to the left of #19 kellogg.  park on the street. it's a very short walk from #1 bus (get off at sheridan + congress, one block before kellogg)
