Sacopee Valley Birthing Services was born in 1994. Over the years, the practice has been gifted with the help of many amazing people; we are grateful to all of the midwives and students who have worked with Sacopee Midwives, there are too many to list!
Timeline:
1994 - Present: Brenda Surabian-Emerson - Founder and Midwifery Partner. Brenda founded the business in 1994, and has worked for many years alongside a wide range of midwives across the state. Through her extensive experience, leadership, and shared wisdom, she has played a significant role in shaping and strengthening the midwifery profession as it exists in the state today.
1999-2004: Deirdre Sulka Meister - Midwife Assist. Went on to found Open Circle Health.
2000-2002: Kelsey Greer - Student to Midwife Assist.
2000-2012: Maureen Smith - Student to Midwifery Partner.
2003 - 2020: Lindsay Bushnell - Student to Midwifery Partner. Is now a labor a delivery nurse at Memorial Hospital in Conway NH.
2005-2022: Holly Wunderlich - Student to Midwife Assist. Currently a local EMT serving the community.
2019-2021: Jodi Kaufman - Midwifery Partner. Now runs Honey Bee Home Health.
2018-2022: Robin Doolittle - Midwifery Partner. Now a labor and delivery nurse at Maine Medical Center in Portland ME.
2019-Present: Acadia Gantz - Student to Midwifery Partner.
2019-Present: Grace Pease - Student to Midwifery Partner.
2024-Present: Danielle Mason - Student to Midwife Partner.
Many students have also spent time with Sacopee during their clinical rotation - we are grateful for them and what they have taught us. We look forward to welcoming more midwifery students into the practice, and believe that fostering the next generation of midwives is essential for the future of the profession.
